A Name Reclaimed with Pride
Why Cedardog?
Originally a slang term for logging remnant scroungers, we embrace this identity because we appreciate how labor-intensive our work is and the importance of optimizing this exceptional and limited resource.
Our cedar has shingled homes from Cape Cod to California for decades, and we are now pleased to bring our craft and this Pacific Northwest legacy to your home and garden.
In our workshop, we handcraft beautiful and durable outdoor furniture, garden décor, and custom enclosures. Stop by or visit our growing collection online.
Cedardogs in the Woods
See where and how we work.
We’ve known each other for decades, even cutting and shingle blocks together over the years. In 2007, we decided to pool our individual expertise and began TD Wood Recovery, with the mission to find the highest and best use of each piece of old-growth cedar we reclaim. Approaching every stump and slab, we decide if it’s best suited to make a #1 or #2 wall shingle, roofing shake, or specialty lumber.
Today, TD Wood Recovery works with several independent cedar salvage contractors. Blocks we harvest go to shake and shingle mills on the Olympic Peninsula, and we mill slabs into clear vertical grain lumber for local high-end specialty wood product suppliers.
In 2024, we recognized the woodworking talent and creativity of one of our most valued cutting contractors. This discovery opened the door for TD Wood Recovery to realize our mission to utilize all the material we reclaim.
A year later, with a shop bursting with products, Cedardog Creations opened as our new retail line. At last, we are maximizing the use of historic logging castoffs, from towering totem poles to tiny checkerboard blocks. Even our sawdust is put to good use on our neighbor's organic berry farm.
Next Gen Cedardogs
At the end of 2026, TD Wood Recovery and the Cedardog Creations workshop will be turned over to the next generation. Father-son duo Luis Sr and Luis Fernando will lead cedar salvage operations, while father-son duo Mario and Juan Pablo manage milling and Cedardog Creations.
Nate will continue providing contract, permitting, and business consultation support. For Ken, it’s time to lay down his saw and pick up his fishing rod more often. When not fishing or traveling, Ken will continue to share his lifetime of experience with this next generation of Cedardogs.
